Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Athletic Communications

Hatters Fall at Lipscomb

Lipscomb scored a pair of goals in the second half as the Bisons handed Stetson a 2-0 loss in ASUN Conference women's soccer, Sunday in Nashville, Tenn.
 
The loss drops Stetson to 2-11-2 overall and 0-5-1 in conference play. Lipscomb improves to 11-5-1 and 4-1-1.
 
After a tough loss Friday at North Alabama, the Hatters has less than 48 hours to recover and prepare for the Bisons. Despite Sunday's result, Stetson head coach Chris Bergmann was pleased with his team's effort and resolve.
 
"I thought we played fantastic," Bergmann said, "even though we didn't capitalize on some great opportunities. Overall, it was a great effort especially considering only having a one-day break between games. I'm truly proud of them."
 
After a scoreless first half, Lipscomb took control midway through the second as Macy Douglas gave the Bisons a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 70th minute.
 
Maycie McKay put the game away for Lipscomb in the 87th minute when she scored the final goal for a 2-0 advantage.
 
Lipscomb out-shot Stetson, 17-7, with 10 shots on-goal. Stetson goalkeeper Lara Bates stood tall, making seven saves.
 
The Hatters next face North Florida, 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand.
