Hatters Visit No. 3 SMU on Tuesday

Stetson men's soccer faces a quick turn around and an imposing opponent when the Hatters face No. 3 SMU, 8 p.m., Tuesday, in Dallas, Texas.
 
The Hatters (7-6-2) suffered a stinging defeat on Sunday night, falling 2-1 at North Florida in ASUN Conference action. Sebastian Chalbaud scored the only goal for the Hatters, but UNF scored twice in the span of about 90 seconds midway through the second half and held on for the win.
 
SMU (10-1-1), meanwhile, enters play on Tuesday following their first loss of the season. The Mustangs were defeated 4-3 in overtime at American Athletic Conference foe Memphis on Saturday.

Notable News: SMU will be Stetson's second nationally-ranked opponent this season, and is likely to be the first of two straight Top 25 opponents … the Hatters lost (2-0) at then-No. 16 FIU on Sept. 24, and the Hatters visit UCF, currently ranked 11th, next Tuesday … this is the second meeting between the Hatters and Mustangs, as SMU took a 3-1 decision last October in DeLand … the Hatters are currently in a three-way tie atop the ASUN Conference standings … Stetson, UNF and FGCU each have 10 points … Stetson doesn't play another conference contest until Saturday, Nov. 2, when the Hatters host FGCU in a game which will likely determine the regular-season champion and tournament No. 1 seed … despite allowing two goals against North Florida, freshman goalkeeper Lute Lillo-Portero still leads the ASUN with a 0.97 goals-against average … as a team, Stetson leads the ASUN in shots (201) and ranks second in shots on goal (85).
