Emily DeStaffino Named ASUN Player of the Week

DeLand, Fla. -- Fresh off a weekend sweep, Stetson University volleyball senior setter Emily DeStaffino (Port Orange, Fla.) has been named the ASUN Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

DeStaffino averaged 14.0 assists and 3.7 digs-per-set to help lead the Hatters to 3-0 victories over NJIT and North Alabama. She recorded a 39-assist, 13-dig double-double performance against the Highlanders and registered 45 assists, including the 1000th of her career, nine digs, and one solo block against the Lions.

Stetson hit .471 against NJIT, a school-record against an ASUN opponent, and .413 against North Alabama, marking the team's first back-to-back matches over .400 in the rally scoring era.

It is the second straight week a Hatter has earned ASUN Player of the Week honors. Eva Deisa was selected last week. DeStaffino claims her first career ASUN Player of the Week award.

The Hatters (7-11, 4-4 ASUN) will look to extend their five-game winning streak when they visit UNF at 7 p.m. Friday.
