Two of the hottest teams in the ASUN and the country will go head-to-head Friday night when the Stetson Hatters visit the FGCU Eagles in Fort Myers, Fla. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. with video streaming coverage on Facebook Live (FGCU Volleyball).
After dropping eight straight matches including a 3-1 decision to FGCU back on Oct. 5, the Hatters have rattled off a single-season school record eight wins in a row. Stetson (10-11) has gone from 0-4 in league play to 7-4 and a tie for fourth place in the league standings. The Hatters' win streak is tied for the 19th-longest active streak in Division I.
The first-place Eagles (22-3, 10-1 ASUN) are on a long hot streak as well. Winners of 12 in a row, FGCU has not lost since a 3-0 setback at Liberty on Sept. 24. That stretch marks the seventh-longest active win streak in the NCAA. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 36-2 in sets over that span.
"FGCU is of course a great team," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said. "I am just looking forward to having great volleyball. I hope we can continue to do our best and see what happens."
FGCU leads the ASUN in attack percentage (.273), while the Hatters lead the league in digs-per-set (16.0). Stetson has hit over .400 three times in the last five matches, including a .426 mark in the win vs. Jacksonville on Wednesday.
In addition to the live video stream, fans can follow live stats and the @StetsonVB twitter feed for in-game updates.
