Hatters Cruise To 80-37 Win Over Florida National

DeLand, Fla. – Six Hatters scored in double figures as Stetson defeated Florida National 80-37 Tuesday afternoon on Volusia County Schools Field Trip day at the Edmunds Center.

"We love the kids being here, and we love the atmosphere," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said. "It is one of my most favorite games of the year, and I think our players feel the same way."

The Hatters (4-4) shot 53 percent from the floor and dished out 21 assists to improve to 3-0 at home this season.

"It was really good how we shared the ball," Bria said.  "That's finally starting to happen a little more.  We are taking better shots.  We still have too many turnovers for my liking, but that is going to come with us playing together."

Day'Neshia Banks recorded her third double-double this season, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Maddie Novak also scored 14 points behind 4-for-6 shooting behind the arc.

Tippy Robertson, Tonysha Curry, Jamiya Turner and Kimia Carter scored in double figures as well, netting 10 points apiece.  Turner's 10 points and six rebounds were both season highs.

"We came out an executed like coach said," Turner said.  "We rebounded, played defense and made shots.  We executed the whole game."

Kendall Lentz added eight points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.  Megan Vincent chipped in four points and three blocks.

Florida National (4-8) was held to just 23 percent shooting.  Stetson owned a 51-27 edge on the glass.

The Hatters will make their first-ever trip to Philadelphia to visit Penn at noon on Saturday.

Notes:
  • The win was Stetson's 200th victory since the start of the 2010-11 season
  • The Hatters put six players in double figures for the first time since 2015
  • Stetson won for the 83rd straight time when scoring 74 points or more
  • Banks scored in double figures for the sixth straight game
