Hatters Fall 81-41 at Penn

Megan Vincent grabs 15 rebounds

Philadelphia, Pa. -- The Quakers hit 14 3-pointers and shot 45 percent from beyond the arc as Penn defeated Stetson 81-41 Saturday afternoon at The Palestra.

Day'Neshia Banks registered her fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, but it wasn't enough for the Hatters (4-5).

"This was a tough one," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "We started the game okay, but in the second quarter, the wheels just fell off.  We quit scoring and started turning it over.  I think the turnovers hurt us again.  It wasn't the passing as much as the travels."

Penn (7-1) scored the first 15 points of the second quarter as the Hatters went scoreless for over eight-and-a-half minutes.  The Quakers led 44-17 at the break.

For the game, Stetson outrebounded Penn 47-39.  Megan Vincent joined Banks in double figures with a career-high 15 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass.

"I am really happy with our rebounding today," Bria said.  "I thought we played hard in that regard. We are just playing defense a long time when they have more possessions than us.  The turnovers are just hurting us right now."

The Hatters had 27 turnovers for the game and shot 30.4 percent from the floor.

After a break for finals, Stetson will host Tulsa on Dec. 15 at 1 p.m.

Notes: Freshman transfer Emari Bell was cleared to play this week by the NCAA and made her collegiate debut. She had three rebounds in 11 minutes of action.
