Hatters Rally Past Jacksonville For Sixth Straight Win

Day'Neshia Banks Scores a Career-High 20 Points

DeLand, Fla. -- Day'Neshia Banks scored a career-high 20 points as Stetson rallied for a 54-46 victory over visiting Jacksonville Tuesday night at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters (13-11, 8-2 ASUN) extended their win streak to six and moved into a tie with North Alabama for second place in the ASUN standings.

"It feels great," said Banks, who scored 11 points in the fourth quarter alone.  "We are just enjoying each other right now and we love winning."

Stetson trailed 17-4 early, but a strong second half capped by a 25-10 run at the finish helped seal the victory.

"I thought Jacksonville had a good game plan, and it just took us a while to settle down and get used to it," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I thought our defense did a much better job in the second half, and I thought we rebounded very well against a team that rebounds well."

Stetson trailed 36-29 late in the third quarter when Walters hit a pair of 3-pointers, including one at the buzzer, to pull the Hatters even for the first time in the game.

In the fourth quarter, with the score tied at 38 and the shot clock winding down, Megan Vincent swished home a 3 from the right corner to put the Hatters ahead for good.

"We didn't shoot well, but we hit some big shots," Bria said. "I thought Megs corner 3 was huge, and I thought Addi's 3 at the end of the third quarter was a major momentum swing."

Banks was 8-for-14 from the floor overall and helped Stetson pull away during the team's fourth quarter run.

"Day Day was huge in the second half," Bria said. "She made some plays and gave us some points in the paint.  She had some really good moves and hit some free throws down the stretch."

Joining Banks in double figures was Walters with 13 points, Vincent with 11 and Beach with 10.  Vincent was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and collected eight rebounds and a five blocks.  Beach played a full 40 minutes for the fourth straight game.

The Hatters improved to 10-2 at home and completed a season sweep of Jacksonville.

Jasmyn Brown led the Dolphins (12-13, 5-7) with nine points.

Stetson will face first-place FGCU (20-4, 11-0) for the first time this season at Saturday afternoon. Tip-off at the Edmunds Center is set for 1 p.m.
