Hatters Downed by Jacksonville

A 15-2 run at the end of the first half helped Jacksonville to a 93-70 ASUN Conference win over Stetson, Wednesday at Edmunds Center.

JD Notae led four Dolphins in double figures with 17 points. His 3-pointer with one second left in the first half closed JU's run and gave them a 48-33 lead at halftime.

The Dolphins (12-15 overall, 5-7 ASUN) controlled play for much of the first half but couldn't shake the Hatters (5-21, 1-10), thanks in part to Stetson shooting 9 of 10 from the free throw line in the first 20 minutes.

A three-pointer by Marques Sumner with 6:08 left before halftime cut JU's lead to 33-31, but the Dolphins responded by scoring the next 12 points for a 45-31 lead with 43 seconds let. A Keith Matthews layup made it 45-33 before Notae sank his three just before the buzzer.

The Dolphins continued to surge as the second half began, opening the final period with an 11-2 run. David Bell's dunk gave JU a 56-35 lead with 17:34 to play and the Hatters never got closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Sumner and Ricardo Lynch led the Hatters with 10 points each. Abayomi Iyiola led all players with 10 rebounds but missed out on his third straight double-double, finishing with 7 points.

Joining Notae in double figures for JU were Jace Hogan (15), Aamahne Santos (13) and Deanthony McCallum (13).
