Hatters Split with Louisiana Tech on Saturday

DeLand, Fla. -- Devin Lewis hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to lift Stetson to a 3-2 victory over Louisiana Tech Saturday afternoon at Patricia Wilson Field.

The Lady Techsters (11-2) took game two by a 8-0 score to earn a split in the doubleheader.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth in game one, Stetson (3-8) mounted a two-out rally.  Danielle Diaz doubled to right and moved to third on a single by Elizabeth Jackson.  Head coach Frank Griffin summoned Lewis as a pinch hitter, and the Hatter sophomore drilled the first pitch she saw to the opposite field and over the fence in right.

It was Stetson's first pinch-hit home run since 2013 (Morgan Hatch).

Tori Perkins (2-3) made the lead hold up, stranding the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the top of the seventh inning.  She went the distance, allowing two runs, one earned, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Kasey Fava, Jackson, and Diaz each had two hits in the game.

Stetson was held to two hits in game two while Jazlyn Crowder went 3-for-3 for the Lady Techsters.  Riley Russell makes a spectacular diving catch into the center field fence in the top of the fifth inning.

Louisiana Tech is receiving Top 25 votes in this week's USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.

Stetson will host the Czech Republic in an exhibition game at 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.  The Hatters will host the Hatter Classic next weekend at Patricia Wilson Field.
