Hatters Sweep Savannah State

Stetson women's tennis capped its strong weekend showing with a 7-0 win over Savannah State, Saturday in Statesboro, Ga.
 
One day after a 5-2 win at Georgia Southern, the Hatters (7-3) picked up their third straight victory in shutout fashion.
 
"It was a good road trip for us," Stetson head coach Travis Sandlant said. "Yesterday's win really set a good standard for us and that carried over to today."
 
Stetson breezed through doubles against the Tigers, winning all three matches. The No. 1 duo of Danel Ashirova & Lucie Renault won, 6-0, and the No. 2 tandem of Brooke Milner & Vicky Geurinckx followed suit with their own 6-0 win. Alexe Viaud & Danielle Peele earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3.
 
In singles play, the Hatters were barely challenged, dropping just 10 total games in six matches. Ashirova won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Renault (6-2, 6-0), Milner (6-1, 6-0), Geurinckx (6-1, 6-3), Peele (6-0, 6-2) and Viaud (6-1, 6-0) collected convincing victories on Courts 2 through 6.
 
The Hatters next host Austin Peay, 10 a.m., Monday, March 4 at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
