Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Athletic Communications

Hatters Blank North Dakota, 7-0

Stetson men's tennis survived a determined opponent and some steamy weather as the Hatters blanked North Dakota, 7-0, on Sunday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (8-6) needed all three doubles matches and fought through three, 3-set matches in singles play to get the win against the Hawks (5-6).
 
Stetson battled through doubles to get the point. Antoine Sanchez & Colter DeCoste earned a 7-5 win on Court 2 and, after Stetson lost 6-4 on Court 1, Coilin MacNamara & Louis Gorregues clinched the point with a 7-5 win of their own on Court 3.
 
Singles play moved slowly, as both teams battled the heat. Tim Gennes got the Hatters off to a strong start with a 6-3, 6-2 win on Court 3, before MacNamara made it 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on Court 4.
 
Stetson clinched the match on Court 1 when Gorregues was awarded the win after his opponent retired in the second set with Gorregues leading, 5-2.
 
Christian Mills won the first of Stetson's three-set marathons, taking a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph on Court 5. Sanchez followed with a 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-8) win on Court 2.
 
Josh Laka finished the three-set trifecta as he won 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 on Court 6.
 
The Hatters return to action when they host UNC Asheville, 5 p.m., Tuesday.
