Hatters Crack the Top 10 in AVCA Beach Poll

Stetson up two more spots after 4-0 week

DeLand, Fla. -- Fresh off a 4-0 weekend at the Gamecock Grand Slam, the Stetson beach volleyball team climbed two spots to No. 10 in this week's AVCA Beach Volleyball Coaches poll.

The Hatters (9-3) are in the AVCA Top 10 for the first time since April 10, 2017 when they were ranked ninth.  It is Stetson's 41st consecutive appearance in the AVCA poll. The Hatters also earned a No. 10 ranking in this week's DiG Magazine poll.

Since opening the season at No. 17 in the polls, Stetson has climbed seven spots, more than any other beach program.  The Hatters have won five matches against Top 20 opponents including victories against Top 10 foes Long Beach State and South Carolina.

Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales went a perfect 4-0 for the Hatters at the 1 seed, while Rebecca Ingram and Quinci Birker also went 4-0 at the 5 seed.  Ingram and Birker have won eight matches in a row and are 10-1 on the season.

Stetson begins a busy week with three home matches on Tuesday at the Cooper Beach Courts.  The Hatters will face No. 16 Florida Atlantic at 10 a.m., Southeastern University at 2 p.m., and FAU once more at 4 p.m.  Live scoring for all three matches can be viewed at GoHatters.com/stats.

This weekend, the Hatters will head to Tallahassee, Fla. to face Austin Peay, No. 15 Arizona, and No. 3 Florida State.
