Hatters Fall to FGCU but Clinch No. 2 Seed

Stetson Hosts Kennesaw State Friday at 7 p.m.

Fort Myers, Fla. -- Although Stetson dropped its regular season finale 61-42 to Florida Gulf Coast Tuesday night, the Hatters left Alico Arena with some good news.

With Liberty's victory over North Alabama, Stetson (16-14, 11-5 ASUN) clinched the No. 2 seed for the ASUN Conference Championship, which begins Friday night at the Edmunds Center.

As the 2 seed, Stetson has secured home court advantage through at least the ASUN semifinals.

"As far as the body of work, I am proud of this group," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "With all the adversity we've had, we've been through a lot, we have put ourselves in a good position, and I am proud of them for that."

Second-seeded Stetson will host seventh-seeded Kennesaw State (8-21) at 7 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinal round.

The winner advances to the semifinals on March 13.  The ASUN Championship will be on March 17 at the site of highest remaining seed.

FGCU (25-4, 16-0 ASUN) earned the No. 1 seed following an undefeated run through the conference season.

Day'Neshia Banks led the Hatters Tuesday with 15 points.  Megan Vincent and Jon'Nita Henry each added 10.

Davion Wingate led the Eagles with 15 points.

Stetson swept the season series from Kennesaw State, winning 76-69 at home and 58-45 in Kennesaw, Ga. The Hatters lead the all-time series 28-4 including a 4-0 mark in postseason play.

Tickets are on sale now (GoHatters.com/tix) and can be purchased for $10 for general admission and $12 for reserved seats.  Tickets for youth (3-17) and ASUN students (with valid ID) are $5.  The first 200 Stetson students will be admitted free.
