Hatters Fall to Kennesaw State in ASUN Quarterfinal

DeLand, Fla. -- Alexis Poole scored 27 points and Amani Johnson scored 21 as 7-seed Kennesaw State upset 2-seed Stetson 67-59 in the ASUN Quarterfinals Friday night at the Edmunds Center.

Day'Neshia Banks scored 16 points to lead the Hatters (16-15).

"Obviously, I don't think we played very well," Stetson head coach Lynn Bria said.  "I thought we turned the ball over way too much.  Rebounds have been our nemesis the whole season and I think it was glaring today. The offensive rebounds Kennesaw got really hurt us."

The Owls (9-21) outrebounded Stetson 28-21.  KSU converted 12 offensive rebounds into 16 second chance points.  The Owls also went 28-for-31 from the free throw line.

"I thought Kennesaw played a good game and a very physical game," Bria said.  "They came in and just wanted the game more."

McKenna Beach scored 15 points in perhaps her final game as a Hatter.  Megan Vincent added 10 points.

"It's sad to see McKenna go," Bria siad.  "Our team hurts that they didn't play better for her.  To see a player like her and what she has done for our program, you really miss the ones like that.  She is not replaceable, but she has nothing to hang her head about."

The Hatters will wait and see if they are selected for a postseason tournament.
