Hatters Blank UNA to Capture ASUN Tourney Berth

Stetson men's tennis punched its ticket to next weekend's ASUN Conference Tournament with an emphatic 7-0 win over visiting North Alabama, Thursday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (10-11 overall, 2-5 ASUN) snapped a four-match losing streak in convincing fashion. Stetson was hardly challenged in doubles, and dropped just one set in singles play.
 
Doubles began with Tim Gennes & Linus Bergevi capturing a 6-0 decision on Court 1, and Coilin MacNamara & Clement Hamel followed with a 6-1 win on Court 3.
 
MacNamara got things started in singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win on Court 5. Hamel posted a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 2, and Christian Mills clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory on Court 6.
 
Antoine Sanchez kept the winning going with a 6-1, 6-1 win on Court 3, and Tim Gennes followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory on Court 5.
 
Linus Bergevi, playing his first singles match since Jan. 18, was a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) winner on Court 1.
 
The Hatters close out the regular season when they host Lipscomb, 2 p.m., Saturday. The ASUN Tournament begins Thursday, April18, in DeLand.
