Hatters Fall 7-1 in Series Finale

Lynchburg, Va. -- Liberty completed a three-game series sweep with 7-1 win over Stetson Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Softball Stadium.

The Flames (27-14, 9-3 ASUN) outhit the Hatters (14-22, 3-6 ASUN) 14-3.

Stetson scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning.  With one out, Lizzie Shubert walked and Blake Crews was hit by a pitch.  Maddie Marchiando then lined a 2-2 pitch into the rightcenter field gap for an RBI double and her first career extra base hit.

Elizabeth Jackson and Ashly Smith also singled for the Hatters.

Tori Perkins worked the first 3.2 innings while Canaan Burnett and Curstin Taylor pitched in relief.  Taylor struck out two batters over 2.1 innings of work.

Devin Lewis made her defensive debut at third base and helped turn a 5-3 double play, Stetson's third twin killing of the weekend.

The Hatters will host Kennesaw State next weekend at Patricia Wilson Field.
