Stetson University pitcher Danny Garcia received another award for his outstanding freshman season for the Hatters when he was named to the Baseball American Freshman All-America second team.
 
Garcia, a native of Pembroke Pines who is spending his summer playing for the Bellingham Bells in the Northwest League, appeared in 28 games this past spring for the Hatters, leading the team with a 1.22 ERA. He finished with a 5-1 record with two saves, working 59.0 total innings on the mound. He held opposing hitters to a .190 batting average while recording 32 strikeouts.
 
For the Bells this summer, he has a 1-0 record, having appeared seven games, recording eight strikeouts in 9.2 innings of work.
 
Garcia, who was named to the ASUN All-Freshman team as well as earning a spot on the ASUN All-Tournament team, was also a second team Freshman All-America selection by D1Baseball.com as well as a first team selection, along with teammate Daniel Paret, to the Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America team.
