For the second consecutive season, the football teams from Stetson University and Presbyterian College will not get a chance to play their scheduled game.
 
Last year it was Hurricane Florence that forced a cancellation, and this year it is Hurricane Dorian.
 
The game will not be rescheduled.
 
"With the entire east coast of Florida in the potential impact zone for this storm, we felt it only prudent for the safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans, as well as the travel party from Presbyterian, to cancel the game," Hatters Director of Athletics Jeff Altier said.
 
"It is also important for us to understand that tying up critical emergency resources by playing a football game in the face of an approaching storm is not the kind of thing we should be doing as members of this community."
 
Stetson University has announced that classes will be cancelled after noon on Friday and will remain cancelled through at least Tuesday next week. The University's itself will officially close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, including all university housing and offices. Non-essential staff, faculty and students will not be allowed on campus until 24 hours after power is restored to the campus.
 
The status of Stetson Athletics events next week – including a women's soccer game against Georgia Southern on Thursday (9/5), men's soccer games on Friday (9/6) and Sunday (9/8) and a football game next Saturday (9/7) against Louisiana College – will be determined after the threat from Hurricane Dorian has passed.
 
Fans who purchased tickets for the game against Presbyterian, or who have season tickets, have multiple options from which to choose.

1. Donate your ticket back to our 'Hometown Heroes' game vs. Dayton on October 19^th, which will allow for veterans, active military, police, firefighters and EMS personnel to receive free tickets.
2. Single game ticket holders may exchange their ticket for a different game, if tickets are still available for that game.
3. Single game ticket holders may request a refund for their ticket by contacting the ticket office.
4. Season ticket holders may bring a guest to another 2019 home game using ticket from the Presbyterian game for admission. They will be given a seat assignment in the same general seating area, if other than general admission,

Keep in mind that the University will be closed after 1 p.m. on Saturday and may be without power. A ticket office staff member will respond to your request as soon as they are able upon return to campus.
 
For Stetson football fans who want to think about something other than hurricane preparations, the Hatters annual golf tournament will go on as scheduled on Friday morning at Alaqua Country Club in Longwood. As of this morning, there was still room available in the event for three more teams.
