Hatters Open Season with Shutout at Charleston

Frank Kouentchi scored the game's only goal as Stetson opened the 2019 with an impressive 1-0 win at College of Charleston on Friday in the opening game of the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic.

One of 13 first-year players for the Hatters this season, Kouentchi wasted little time in announcing his presence, scoring an unassisted goal in the 8th minute for the early 1-0 advantage.

From there, all the Hatters had to do was hang on for 82 minutes to get the win. And the defense was up to the task as freshman goalkeeper Lute Lillo-Portero faced 11 shots and made two saves in his collegiate debut.

Stetson managed 13 shots for the game but Charleston goalkeeper Isaac Alstrom stood tall, making five total saves. But the one he couldn't stop ended up being the difference for the Hatters.

The Hatters continue play in the classic on Sunday when they square off against UNCW.
