McCauley's Late Goal Helps Hatters to 2-0 Start

Ian McCauley's goal with just over five minutes to play lifted Stetson to a 2-1 win over UNCW at the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic, Sunday at Charleston, S.C.
 
The win gives the Hatters a 2-0 start for the first time since 2015. For McCauley, a senior who missed all of last season with injury, the goal was just the third of his career and his second career game winner.
 
Stetson took the early lead on a goal from Chris DeGance in the 42nd minute. The goal was first career score for the senior. Sebastian Chalbaud assisted on the play.
 
UNCW (0-2) knotted the match in the 60th minute. Jacob Evans scored from close range as the Seahawks tied the contest at 1-1.
 
The game remained tied until McCauley's heroics. His score came on a corner kick from Gabriel Diniz, as McCauely flew in from the back and sent a header into the net.
 
Stetson goalkeeper Lute Lillo-Portero notched his second win in two starts, making a pair of saves while facing 11 total shots.
 
The Hatters also launched 11 shots, with more than half (6) going on-goal as UNCW keeper Kyle McGovern made four saves.
 
Stetson next is scheduled to host UTRGV, 7 p.m., Friday at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand.
