After a disruptive first two weeks of the season due to Hurricane Dorian, the Stetson volleyball team had a return to normalcy this week in preparation of the JSU Gamecock Classic.  The Hatters (1-3) will hope getting back to their usual routine will translate to some more consistent play on the court.

"We really didn't get a chance to work on the things we needed to work on after the FAU tournament, so we just did the best we could at FIU," Stetson head coach Yang Deng said.  "Now we have had three days to fix some things and to get everyone on the same page."

Stetson will face undefeated Mississippi State (6-0) in the first match of the JSU Classic at 11 a.m. Friday ET.  The Bulldogs have already surpassed their win total from all of last season (5-26).

Then at 8 p.m. Friday night, Stetson will face tournament host Jacksonville State (2-4) in a match broadcast live on ESPN+.  The Hatters will play Sam Houston State (2-4) at 12 p.m. Saturday to conclude the tournament.

"Obviously, they are all good teams, and we are still looking at how do we improve in all aspects of the game," Deng said.  "We are still getting familiar with each other and getting used to playing together.  That is still our main focus.  We have had some good moments, but we have to learn how to sustain it."

The JSU Gamecock Classic marks the third of four tournaments for the Hatters.  Next weekend, Stetson will be in Tampa, Fla. to face Indiana and USF at the USF Classic.
