Hatters Drop 3-1 Decision to Jacksonville State

Ivanova, Deisa Record Double-Doubles

Box Score Jacksonville, Ala. -- Stetson got double-doubles from Naina Ivanova and Eva Deisa, but Jacksonville State claimed a 3-1 victory (25-11, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18) over the Hatters Friday night in the second match of the JSU Gamecock Classic.

After rallying for a 3-2 victory over Mississippi State in the afternoon, the Hatters (2-4) came up short in the nightcap against the Gamecocks (4-4).

Stetson committed 10 errors in the first set alone (8-10-33) as JSU rolled to a 25-11 victory.

In the second set, however, Stetson hit .400 as a team and did not commit an attack error in 35 attempts to pull even in the match.

In the third set, the Hatters' extended their errorless streak to 21 consecutive kills, but Jacksonville State used a late run to take the lead for good.

The Gamecocks hit .434 in the final frame and compiled a .323 attack percentage for the match.

Deisa finished with a season-high 19 kills and 15 digs for her 18th career double-double (second this season).  She also served three aces giving her a total of seven aces on the day.

Ivanova, making her first start at setter this season, recorded her 25th career double-double with 30 assists and 17 digs.  Brianna Schmid (14-0-31) was errorless on the day and posted a combined .452 attack percentage.

The Hatters will conclude play at JSU Gamecock Classic at Noon ET Saturday against Sam Houston State.
