Hatters Blanked at UCF

UCF's Zandy Soree scored a pair of goals to lead the Knights to a 5-0 win over Stetson, Sunday in Orlando, Fla.
 
Both of Soree's goals came via penalty kick as the Knights (3-1-2) out-shot Stetson (2-5-0) by a 23-6 margin.
 
Soree gave the Knights an early 1-0 lead with her first successful penalty kick in the 16th minute. Moments later, teammate Kristin Scott gave the Knights a 2-0 edge.
 
UCF carried its 2-0 lead into the second half. Soree netted her second goal of the night 56th minute as UCF surged to a 3-0 advantage.
 
Talia Gabarra gave the Knights a 4-0 lead with a goal in the 81st minute. Mallory Olsson made it 5-0 by scoring in the 85th minute.
 
"I thought we created some decent looks tonight but we couldn't find the net," Stetson head coach Chris Bergmann said. "Lara Bates was outstanding in goal for us despite the way the stats may look. She made some excellent saves."
 
Bates, a freshman, finished the game with five saves, including one save on a penalty kick early in the game. UCF keeper Caroline Delisle made one save.
 
Stetson next returns home to host Embry-Riddle, 7 p.m., Thursday.
