Hatters Fall to FGCU

Day'Neshia Banks records eighth double-double

DeLand, Fla. -- Five FGCU players scored in double figures as the 25th-ranked Eagles defeated Stetson 89-47 Saturday afternoon in an ASUN Conference game at the Edmunds Center.

FGCU, the NCAA's statistical leader in 3-point field goals, hit 18 shots from behind the arc to improve to 16-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.  The Hatters fell to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in the ASUN.

Day'Neshia Banks registered her eighth double-double of the season, scoring a game-high 21 points on 8-for-16 shooting with 11 rebounds.  Tippy Robertson netted eight points off the bench.

Davion Wingate and Nasrin Urel scored 19 points apiece to lead the Eagles.  

Stetson held a 47-35 edge on the glass but turned the ball over 23 times.  The Hatters connected on 13-of-15 attempts from the free throw line (.867).

FGCU shot 44 percent from the floor and 43 percent from the arc.

The Hatters will travel to Jacksonville next Saturday to face the Dolphins at 1 p.m.
