Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Athletic Communications

Hatters Sweep Florida Southern

Stetson men's tennis swept Florida Southern, 7-0, Sunday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, the third straight win for the Hatters.
 
The Hatters (6-2) won two doubles matches and were victorious in all six singles matches in their most dominating performance of the season.
 
Josh Laka & Times Gennes gave Stetson an early start with a 6-2 win on Court 2. Sven Thiergard & Fabian Penzkofer earned a 7-6 win on Court 1, and the Hatters claimed an early 1-0 lead.
 
Play moved to singles and Stetson really flexed its muscles. The Hatters swept the first five singles matches without dropping a set.
 
Gennes got the Hatters going with a 6-1, 6-3 win on Court 5, followed by Alexandre Hillhouse winning 6-2, 3-4 (retired) on Court 2.
 
Thiergard clinched the match for the Hatters with a 6-0, 6-2 victory on Court 4.
 
Penzkofer immediately followed by winning 6-2, 6-3 on Court 3, and Clemet Hamel rallied from down 5-2 in the second set to claim a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1.
 
Christian Mills capped off a perfect day by outlasting his competitor 6-7, 7-5, 1-0 (6) on Court 6.
 
The Hatters return to action when they visit Mercer, 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22.
