FRESNO, Calif.--Marina Rotella scored four goals to lead Stetson, but Fresno State never trailed as the Bulldogs handed the Hatters a 21-13 loss on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (2-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. The Hatters (1-1) got to within 3-1 and 4-2 before Fresno scored eight straight goals for a 12-2 lead with 12:08 left in the first half.

Fresno State ultimately led 14-4 at halftime before the Hatters made a comeback.

Stetson opened the second half by scoring three straight goals as Maria Snee, Rotella and Erin Collier each found the net to get the Hatters within 14-7.

After Fresno scored twice to make it 16-7, the Hatters again scored three straight goals to get within 16-10. The Bulldogs, however, scored three consecutive goals of their own to make it 19-10 to put the game out of reach.

Riley Reagan, Snee and Collier each scored two goals for the Hatters. Sarah Trupp led the Hatters with 6 groundballs, while Reagan had 6 draws.

Sydney Skalstad scored 8 goals for Fresno State.

The Hatters next open ASUN Conference play when they visit Jacksonville, 1 p.m., Sunday, March 1.
