Hatters Edged by Oakland 3-2

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. -- Cammie Brummitt broke a 2-2 tie with a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to lead Oakland to a 3-2 victory over Stetson Sunday morning at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Molly McLaughlin had two hits to lead the Hatters (6-8), who completed the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic with a 1-4 mark.

Stetson fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first, but fought back to tie the game with a run in the third and a run in the fourth.  McLaughlin's two-out RBI single to center scored Alyssa Gilman with the tying run.  

However, that single proved to be Stetson's only hit with a runner in scoring position. The Hatters were 1-for-12 on the day in that situation and left eight runners on base.

Chloe Temples pitched her eighth complete game of the year, striking out six over seven innings of work. The Grizzlies (6-3) collected just five hits.

Lizzie Shubert recorded her fifth double of the tournament and of the season.  She is tied for the ASUN lead in that category and leads the league in RBI (15).

The Hatters will host the Stetson Invitational next weekend with Bethune-Cookman, Colgate and Valparaiso visiting DeLand.
