Hatters Top Troy

DeLAND--Stetson women's tennis got back in the win column on Saturday as the Hatters downed Troy, 5-2, at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
After dropping a pair of matches last weekend, the Hatters (2-3) turned in a solid effort against the Trojans, winning the doubles point and taking four of six singles matches.
 
Freshman Noa Cohen clinched the victory for the Hatters with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
 
"I thought I stayed really serious and I tried to my best to win the match," Cohen said. "She was pushing me really hard, but I tried t be patient and play my game and it worked. It feels so good to get the win today."
 
Stetson began the day by winning the doubles point. Cohen & Vicky Geurinckx were 6-1 winners on Court 3, and Brooke Milner & Laia Pasini clinched the point with a 6-3 win on Court 2.
 
The Hatters quickly took control of the match as play moved to singles. Lucie Renault gave Stetson a 2-0 lead with a 61-, 6-2 win on Court 3, and Geurinckx made it 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win on Court 5.
 
Troy battled back with wins on Courts 1 and 2, but Cohen gave the Hatters the match with her performance on Court 4.
 
Freshman Laia Pasini closed the match for Stetson with a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (3) win on Court 6.
 
Stetson returns to action against Bethune-Cookman, 10 a.m., February 18 in DeLand.
