UNF Slips Past Hatters in Regular Season Finale

Stetson hits a season-high 11 3-pointers

DeLand, Fla. -- After a wild second half that featured five lead changes and a pair of 11-point comebacks, UNF held on for a 62-60 victory over Stetson in the regular season finale Monday night at the Edmunds Center.

The Ospreys (15-14, 8-8 ASUN) clinched fifth place in the league standings while the Hatters (12-17, 6-10 ASUN) dropped into a tie for sixth place with Kennesaw State.  Stetson's ASUN Championship seeding (either 6 or 7) will be determined late Monday or early Tuesday when the next NCAA RPI is released.

If the Hatters are the 6 seed, they will travel to Liberty for Saturday's ASUN Quarterfinal. If they are the 7 seed, they will head to North Alabama.  Stetson will be making its 17th consecutive appearance in the ASUN Championship.

Day'Neshia Banks led the Hatters with 15 points Monday, 13 of which came in the second half.  She scored seven in a row after the Hatters trailed 57-46 early in the fourth quarter. Maddie Novak followed with a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one, and 1:02 left, Banks connected on a long jumper inside the arc to give the Hatters a 60-59 lead.

UNF answered with a bucket in the paint by Dasha Eremeeva with 15.1 seconds to go.  Stetson had two more opportunities to tie or take the lead but could not complete the comeback.

The Hatters hit a season-high 11 3-pointers, nine of which came from freshmen.  Novak was 4-for-5 from behind the arc for 14 points.  Tippy Robertson (eight points) and Jamiya Turner (six points) hit a pair of 3-pointers each, and Kimia Carter (five points) added one.  Tonysha Curry pulled down 10 rebounds.

Stetson led 14-12 after 1 and 30-23 at the break.  UNF erased a 40-29 second half deficit with a 28-6 run.

Jazz Bond led the Ospreys with 17 points.
