Hatters Fall at Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii--Stetson women's tennis closed out their brief Hawaiian stay with a 6-1 loss to Hawai'i on Wednesday.
 
Vicky Geurinckx was the only Hatter to taste victory on Wednesday, securing a 6-7 (0), 7-5, 1-0 (7) win on Court 6.
 
The Hatters (7-5) started by dropping the doubles point, taking losses on Courts 1 and 2.
 
Holding a 1-0 lead as play moved to singles action, Hawai'i wasted no time in taking control of the match. Straight set wins on Courts 1 and 5 gave Hawai'i a 3-0 lead, and the Rainbow Wahine clinched the match with another straight set victory on Court 4.
 
Stetson's Lucie Renault pushed her opponent to a third set on Court 2 before falling 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2). Hawai'i closed out the day with a win on Court 3.
 
The Hatters next host UTSA, 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
