Hatters Add New Mexico Transfer Yamelis Mojica

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University indoor volleyball head coach Yang Deng has announced the addition of New Mexico transfer Yamelis Mojica to the program for the 2020 season.

Mojica, a 6-0 outside and right side will join the Hatters with three years of eligibility remaining after competing in three matches with the Lobos in 2019.

"Yamelis is a very athletic and all-around skilled player," Deng said. "I think her experience having played on the college level and her maturity are really going to help us.  She has a very strong knowledge of the game. She can also play multiple positions, and that will give us some good options."

A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Mojica brings some international experience to the Hatters.  She competed for the Puerto Rico U18 and U20 National Teams at NORCECA tournaments in Cuba, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Mojica was also a standout performer in high school, where she earned two All-Star selections and an MVP award at the Puerto Rico High School championship.  She also earned MVP honors for Copa Angel Matos, the Jeep Volleyball Challenge, the Spring Volleyball Challenge.

Mojica joins fall signees Grace Asleson, Anabelle Standish, Alexis Thompson, and Beatriz Vossen.
