From her childhood, Katie DiGirolamo has always been very active. From sports to music to dance classes, she was always on the go – always busy.
In this edition of Hatter Chatter … The Podcast, presented by Insight Credit Union, you'll hear from the former Stetson volleyball and beach volleyball player that little has changed since she left college with a degree in Business Administration in the spring of 2014.
While at Stetson, in addition to being an honor roll student, winner of the Wendall N. Jarrard, Sr., Award Winner and a multiple ASUN academic honoree while playing indoor volleyball before crossing over to the new beach volleyball program, DiGirolamo was also heavily involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Counsel.
She served as president of the Stetson SAAC, represented Stetson on the ASUN SAAC and was also the conference representative to the NCAA as a member of the Student Voice committee. It was during her time that the groundwork was laid for some of the progress that has been made in terms of student-athlete rights within the NCAA.
During her college years she also spent three summers as an intern with the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton, which set the stage for her current role with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Since finishing her degree, the Sarasota native completed her MBA at the University of Florida while also working as Executive Assistant for Greg Phillips, the Co-Managing Director and the Vice President of Athletics at IMG Academy, a position she held until the summer of 2018.
That was when she was hired by the Toronto Blue Jays to oversee the renovation project at Dunedin Stadium as well as the development of their Player Development Complex, which is scheduled to officially open this fall.
In this edition of Hatter Chatter … The Podcast, presented by Insight Credit Union, DiGirolamo talks about how her time at Stetson as a student-athlete and with SAAC prepared her to lead a multi-million dollar project for a two-time World Series champion as part of their effort to get back to the top of Major League Baseball.
She also provides solid advice to today's student-athletes for how to manage during the current pandemic and be prepared when the opportunity comes to get back on the field and, after college careers end, to be prepared to tackle the challenges that life has in store.
