Hatters Fall 84-62 to FGCU

DeLand, Fla. -- Yazz Wazeerud-Din scored a career-high 22 points, but Florida Gulf Coast came away with a 84-62 victory Saturday afternoon at the Edmunds Center.

The Eagles (13-2, 6-0 ASUN) won both games in the two-game ASUN series to extend their overall win streak to 12.

The Hatters (4-7, 2-4) stayed aggressive throughout the game, getting to the free throw line a season-high 28 times.  Wazeerud-Din connected on all eight of her attempts from the charity stripe, improving her league-best free throw percentage to .895.  Overall, she has made 25 free throws in a row.

Jamiya Turner reached double figures for the third straight, finishing with 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Megan Vincent added a season-high 11 points behind a perfect 4-of-4 shooting effort.  

Kierstan Bell netted 25 points to lead FGCU. The Eagles outshot Stetson 48 percent to 38 percent.

The Hatters will find out who their next opponent will be early next week.

  • Yazz Wazeerud-Din extended her double figure scoring streak to seven games in a row
