Hatters Victorious on Opening Day

DeLAND--Stetson women's tennis made its long-awaited return to the courts in style on Saturday, as the Hatters blanked visiting Florida National, 7-0, at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters barely broke a sweat on Saturday, as they dropped a total of just 15 games between nine combined singles and doubles matches. Several first-year Hatters saw action against FNU, and head coach Travis Sandlant was pleased with his team's effort.
 
"It was great to get the season under way," he said. "I was really happy that we had so many players get their first collegiate wins. We have some tough matches coming up that will test us. We look forward to those contests, too."
 
Newcomers Anais Gabriel, Tess Menten, and Daliyah Hammoud picked up singles wins in their first Stetson outings, and Olivia Talbert & Ana Dovgopolyi got the win at No. 3 doubles.
 
Next up for the Hatters is USF, 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7 at MSTC.
