Hatters Blanked at No. 22 UCF

Stetson women's tennis suffered a 7-0 setback to No. 22 UCF on Thursday at USTA National Center in Lake Nona.
 
UCF's lineup featured three of the nation's top 95 singles players, and two of the top 60 doubles teams.
 
The Hatters (0-1) lost the doubles point, as both the No. 1 team of Danel Ashirova and Elodie Foster, and the No. 2 tandem of Brooke Milner and Katie Kubicz suffered 6-0 defeats.
 
In singles play, the Hatters were blanked in five of six matches. Only junior Anais Gabriel won a set before falling in a third set super tiebreaker 6-2, 4-6, 1-0.
 
"UCF was very strong today," Stetson head coach Travis Sandlant said. "It was good for us to see that level of play."
 
The Hatters return to the court when they host USF, 3:30 p.m., Sunday, at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
