Hatters Downed by USF

DeLAND--Stetson women's tennis was edged by USF, 5-2, Sunday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

The match was a back-and-forth affair which was closer than the final score indicates. In the end, the Bulls (1-3) had just enough to edge the Hatters (1-2).

Stetson started strong, winning the doubles point as the tandems of Danel Ashirova & Elodie Foster at No. 1, and Noa Cohen & Anais Gabriel at No. 3 each earned 6-4 wins.

Leading 1-0 on the scoreboard as play moved to singles, the Hatters managed just one singles victory. But that one win came in impressive fashion as sophomore Noa Cohen rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 5.

Stetson returns to the court when the Hatters host FIU on Feb. 22.
