DeLand, Fla. -- For the first time since Sept. 18, the Stetson University men's soccer team lost as the Hatters fell 1-0 to University of North Florida at the ATC.

Saturday at the ATC, the Hatters (6-5-2, 3-2-0) and the Ospreys (4-5-1, 2-3-0) each got out of the gate slowly as the match's first shot did not come until the fifth minute when Daniel Wintermeier took a shot on goal off a Stetson corner, but it was saved by the UNF keeper. The Ospreys' first shot on goal was saved by Hatters keeper Jacob Gruber, but in the 23', UNF found the back of the Hatters net on a goal from Igor Martins to put the Ospreys up 1-0. Stetson tried to retaliate before the end of the half on a shot from Lewis Scattergood but it was to no avail and the Ospreys took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

In the second half, the Hatters offense outshot the Ospreys 10-0 but could not find the back of the UNF net. Stetson had six shots on goal but UNF's keeper Padraic Gilley kept Stetson off the board as UNF's goal from the 23' held on to be the game-winner.

Stetson outshot UNF 15-3 on the night as Gio Rodriguez and Alvaro Gabancho each had three shots for the Hatters offense.

The Stetson men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 23 as the Hatters host Bellarmine for the final regular season home match. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
