Hatters host Bellarmine in penultimate match

DeLand, Fla. -- The Stetson University men's soccer team gets set for its penultimate match as the Hatters host Bellarmine University on Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Admission to the ATC is $5 or free with a Stetson University ID. 
 
Recap
The Hatters have sat idle for a week as Stetson's last contest came on Oct. 16 against North Florida where the Hatters fell to the Ospreys 1-0, ending Stetson's five-match win streak. 
 
Scouting the Knights 
Bellarmine enters Saturday's contest with a 6-5-1 overall record and are 2-3-0 in ASUN action. The Knights come off a two-match stretch, going 1-1. On Oct. 9, Bellarmine fell 1-0 to FGCU and then topped Liberty 2-1 on Oct. 16. 
 
Micah Linscott and Brock Pope are tied for the team lead in goals on the year with three. Juan Ballas and Nolan McGrath each have two goals and two assists. Linscott, Pope, Ballas and McGrath all have six points for the Knights. Bellarmine keeper Conor Range has played in eight matches, compiling a .744 save percentage while Matthew Brozovich has a .929 save percentage and three shutouts in four contests. 
 
All-Time Series
Saturday's match between the Hatters and the Knights will be the first meeting between the two teams. 
 
Hatters Notes
The Hatters are led by the ASUN's leader in goals (6) and points (14) in freshman Nelson Pereira while Oliver Bryneus sits just behind Pereira with five goals and 11 points. Sophomore defender Alvaro Gabancho leads Stetson in minutes played with 1117. Hatters keepers Jacob Gruber and Owen Jack have shared the duties between the pipes as Gruber has a .711 save percentage and three shutouts in nine matches while Jack has a .652 save percentage in six matches, recording one shutout. 
 
Looking Ahead
Stetson's men's soccer team finishes out the 2021 regular season on the road as the Hatters travel to FGCU on Oct. 30 to face the Eagles. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
