Hatters Can't Complete Sweep at Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga.---Rob Perry scored a team-high 23 points and four other Hatters reached double figures, but it wasn't enough for Stetson in an 83-75 ASUN Conference loss at Kennesaw State on Saturday.

The loss means Stetson is still looking for its first ASUN weekend sweep of the year. The Hatters have split five of their six weekends to this point, with just two weekends remaining in the regular season.

Stetson was never really in this game. The Hatters (8-11 overall, 5-7 ASUN) held an 8-3 lead early on, but the Owls (4-16, 1-11) went on a 17-4 run, taking a 20-12 lead with 10:42 left before halftime.

Stetson ultimately trailed 42-24 at halftime and didn't cut Kennesaw's lead to less than 10 points until the game's final 90 seconds.

Kennesaw State shot 49 percent from the field and was 11 of 21 from 3-point range. Spencer Rodgers led the Owls with a game-high 27 points.

Perry finished 8 of 17 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers in 38 minutes.

Christiaan Jones finished with a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Hatters, while Stephan Swenson added 13. Mahamadou Diawara and Chase Johnston each chipped in with 10 points.

Game Notes
  • Christiaan Jones became the 36th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, doing so on a layup with 10:09 to play in the first half
  • Jones also grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, finishing with a double-double for the second time in his career
  • Freshman Stephan Swenson reached double figures for the first time in his career, finishing the game with 13 points
