Hatters Host FGCU to Open ASUN Play

Preview
The Stetson Hatters begin ASUN play this weekend when they host the FGCU Eagles for a two-game set at the Edmunds Center.  Game 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 12 p.m. and Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m.  Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.  Attendance is limited to player pass list only.

All-Time Series
FGCU leads the all-time series 21-2. The Eagles have won the last 11 head-to-head meetings.

Last Time Out
Sophomore Elena Djokovic registered career-highs of 22 kills and 17 digs to lead Stetson to a 3-1 season-opening victory over Florida Atlantic on Jan. 31 at the Edmunds Center.  The Hatters won by scores of 25-20, 16-25, 25-19 and 25-20 to earn their first victory over the Owls since 2002.  Naina Ivanova registered a double-double of 35 assists and 13 digs, while adding five blocks.  Stetson picked up 88 digs as a team, with Chelcie Spence leading the way (24 digs).  Djokovic (17), Ivanova (13), Grace Asleson (13), and Alejandra Perez (12) also collected double-digit digs.

ASUN Honors
Following the FAU match, Elena Djokovic earned her first career ASUN Player of the Week honor, and Chelcie Spence was tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in her career.

Conference Play in 2019
Stetson went 9-7 in the 2019 ASUN season.  Those nine league victories tied a school record and the team's .563 conference winning percentage set a new program high-water mark.
