Hatters Down FAMU

DeLAND--Stetson women's tennis eased its way to a 5-2 win over Florida A&M, Friday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (2-3) started strong, winning the doubles point without losing a match. The No. 2 tandem of Brooke Milner & Katie Kubicz were the first to finish, winning their match by a score of 6-0. Vicky Geurinckx & Tess Menten followed at No. 3 doubles with a 6-4 win, giving Stetson a 1-0 lead in the overall match.
 
In singles, Elodie Foster extended Stetson's lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Danel Ashirova followed soon after with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 as Stetson gained a 3-0 advantage.
 
Laia Pasini clinched the team win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6, and Milner capped the day for the Hatters by winning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3.
 
The Hatters next visit Charleston Southern, Noon, Sunday.
