Hatters' Fourth Quarter Rally Falls Short

Kiya Turner leads with 19 points

Lynchburg, Va. -- Stetson cut a 17-point second-half deficit down to 1, but Liberty held on for a 62-58 victory Saturday afternoon in Game 1 of a two-game ASUN series at Liberty Arena.

Kiya Turner led the way for the Hatters (7-11, 5-8 ASUN) with 19 points, marking her fifth straight game in double figures.  Yazz Wazeerud-Din and Jamiya Turner chipped in 15 points and 13 points, respectively.

Ashtyn Baker led the Flames (16-5, 11-2) with 16 points.

The Hatters scored 23 points in the 4th quarter, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor and 11-for-14 from the line.  Stetson pulled within 55-54 on a pair of Megan Vincent free throws with 3:44 to go, but the Flames answered with a back-to-bask buckets to push the lead back to five.

Stetson held a 34-31 edge on the glass.

The same two teams will meet again at 2 p.m. Sunday.  The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
