Hatters Drop Game 2 at Liberty

Lynchburg, Va. -- Yazz Wazeerud-Din hit the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season, but Liberty defeated Stetson 66-55 Sunday afternoon at Liberty Arena.

With the victory, the Flames (17-5, 12-2 ASUN) completed a two-game sweep of the ASUN weekend series.

Stetson (7-12, 5-9 ASUN) trailed by six in the second quarter when a run three consecutive 3-pointers gave the Hatters a 6-point lead. Jamiya Turner nailed the first two and Tippy Robertson followed with a third triple as Stetson owned a 34-31 lead at the break.

Wazeerud-Din started the third quarter with a 3-point play to push the lead to six, but Liberty answered with an 18-4 run to take the lead for good.

Wazeerud-Din scored 20 points with six rebounds in 38 minutes of action.  Kiya Turner netted 11 points to extend her double-figure scoring streak to six games.  Megan Vincent also scored 11 with three blocks.  She now has 190 rejections in her career.

Emily Lytle led the Flames with 22 points.  Liberty held a 44-23 edge on the glass.

The Hatters will host Jacksonville for a pair of games next weekend at the Edmunds Center to close the regular season.  The ASUN Championship is set for March 11-14 in Kennesaw, Ga.
