Hatters Drop a Pair in Clermont

Clermont, Fla. -- Stetson dropped a pair of games Sunday afternoon at The Spring Games, falling 5-3 to New Mexico State and 15-0 to No. 12 Kentucky at Legends Way Ballfields.

The Hatters complete their opening weekend with a 1-3 mark.

In Game 1, Stetson rallied to force extra innings with a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh.  Marissa Baxter scored on a dropped fly ball and Lizzie Shubert singled home Brianna Clary to tie the game 3-3.

The Aggies regained a two-run lead with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth, and the Hatters were held scoreless in the bottom of the frame.

Clary finished the game with two hits and two runs scored.  Chloe Temples went the distance in the circle.

In Game 2, 12th-ranked Kentucky plated seven runs in the bottom of the first and improved to 14-0 on the season.  Stetson was held hitless in the five-inning game.

The Hatters will continue play at The Spring Games next weekend in Leesburg.
