Hats Rally Past Lipscomb, 73-68

DeLAND--Stetson's Chase Johnston scored a game-high 21 points, including 13 in the second half as the Hatters erased a 16-point deficit to knock off Lipscomb, 73-68, in ASUN Conference play, Friday at Edmunds Center.
 
The Hatters (7-9 overall, and 4-5 ASUN) earned their third-straight win after trailing 41-29 at halftime and 51-35 with 16:15 to play.
 
After shooting just 37 percent in the first half, the Hatters scored at a 55-percent clip in the second half.
 
Trailing 59-50 with 8:44 to play, the Hatters went on a 10-1 run, tying the game at 60-60 on a Johnston 3-pointer at the 6:06 mark.
 
A triple by Josh Smith and a defensive rebound and coast-to-coast layup by Mahamadou Diawara gave the Hatters a 65-63 lead with 4:37 to go, Stetson's first lead since the 17:53 mark of the first half.
 
Back-to-back jumpers by Diawara and Perry put Stetson up 69-65 with 2:20 left, and the Hatters went 4 for 6 from the free throw line in the final 28 seconds to seal the win.
 
Johnston made 5 of 12 shots from 3-point range in 37 minutes. Perry scored 15 points with 7 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Smith and Diawara each scored 13 points and grabbed 7 boards.
 
 Ahsan Asadullah led Lipscomb with 20 points.
