Short-handed Hatters Fall to Troy

DeLAND--A short-handed Stetson men's tennis team opened the season with a 6-1 loss to Troy, Sunday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
With only four available players, the Hatters (0-1) did their best against an undefeated Troy (6-0) squad, but in the end the short roster got the best of them
 
The match began with Troy winning the doubles point by taking decisions at No. 1 (6-4) and No. 2 (6-0).
 
Singles play saw the Trojans start with forfeit wins on already the board at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. The Hatters managed to push a pair of results to a third set but only Antoine Sanchez was able to prevail, winning 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 at No. 1.
 
The Hatters return to action on Feb. 13 against Presbyterian in Statesboro, Ga.
