Hatters Down UNCW

Stetson women's tennis got back to .500 on Friday, defeating UNCW 4-1 in Hilton Head, S.C.
 
Friday's win gives the Hatters (4-4) two straight wins. Strong play in both doubles and singles led the way against the Seahawks (3-5).
 
Stetson opened doubles play with a 6-3 win by the No. 2 duo of Katie Kubicz & Brooke Milner. After UNCW gained a victory on Court 3, the tandem of Danel Ashirova & Elodie Foster gave the Hatters the doubles point with a 7-5 triumph.
 
Singles play began with a loss for the Hatters on Court 4, but it was all Stetson from that point on.
 
Noa Cohen gained back the lead for the Hatters with a 6-1, 6-3 win on Court 5, and Foster made it 3-1 with her 6-3, 6-3 victory on Court 6.
 
Kubicz clinched the win for Stetson with a three-set victory on Court 3, taking the match 6-0, 3-6, 6-2.
 
The Hatters next visit Georgia Southern, 11 a.m., Saturday.
