Hatters Breeze Past Georgia Southern, 4-2

Stetson women's tennis picked up its third straight victory with a 4-2 win at Georgia Southern, Saturday in Statesboro, Ga.
 
"This was a good match today," Stetson head coach Travis Sandlant said. "I'm very proud of how mentally tough the team stayed this weekend."
 
After a 4-1 win on Friday against UNCW, the Hatters opened play at Georgia Southern by winning the doubles point. Katie Kubicz & Brooke Milner gave Stetson the early doubles lead with a 6-2 win on Court 2, and Danel Ashirova & Elodie Foster handed the Hatters the doubles point with their 7-6 (2) victory on Court 1.
 
Anais Gabriel, playing at No. 1 singles for the first time this spring, opened the singles portion of play for Stetson with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win. Kubicz gave Stetson a 2-1 advantage in the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win on Court 3.
 
Georgia Southern stayed in the match with a win on Court 2, but Brooke Milner clinched the victory for Stetson with a 6-2, 7-5 win on Court 4.
 
Stetson next begins ASUN Conference play when the Hatters host Kennesaw State, 10 a.m., Friday March 19 at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
