Hatters Open ASUN Play With 5-2 Win

Stetson women's tennis started the ASUN Conference season off on the right foot, defeating Kennesaw State, 5-2, Friday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
The Hatters (6-4, 1-0) won their fourth straight match with dominating performances in both doubles and singles play.
 
Stetson opened play with the No. 3 doubles tandem of Noa Cohen & Anais Gabriel taking a 6-1 decision. After Kennesaw State recorded a 6-1 win on Court 2, the Hatters captured the doubles point as the duo of Danel Ashirova & Elodie Foster earned a 6-3 victory on Court 1.
 
Leading 1-0, the Hatters went to work in singles. Gabriel started things off with a 6-0, 6-1 win on Court 1, and Katie Kubicz followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory on Court 3.
 
Noa Cohen clinched the match for Stetson on Court 5, winning 6-2, 7-5.
 
Stetson picked up one more singles win with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win by Brooke Milner on Court 4.
 
The Hatters continue ASUN play when they host North Florida, 11 a.m., Sunday.
