Dominant Performance Comes Up Short Against Jacksonville

Jacksonville's Gabby Holtrop scored the only goal of the night as the Dolphins handed Stetson a 1-0 loss in ASUN Conference women's soccer, Saturday night at the Athletic Training Center.
 
Jacksonville (1-6-1, 1-3-1 ASUN) jumped on the Hatters early in the match. Holtrop's goal came in only the 3rd minute of the contest.
 
Stetson (1-3-1, 0-2-1 ASUN) controlled play for much of the match. The Hatters had plenty of scoring chances, outshooting the Dolphins by a whopping 17-2 margin, but they were unable to capitalize. Eight of Stetson's shots were on-goal.
 
Ten different Hatters took shots in the match. Erin McRae and Lily Truong led Stetson with three shots each.
 
One of the best Hatter chances of the night came in the 29th minute of the first half. With Jacksonville's goalkeeper off of her spot, Frankie Frericks fired a shot towards the Jacksonville net, but a Dolphins' defender managed a miraculous header save to keep Stetson off the board.  
 
The Hatters will travel to Fort Myers next weekend to face FGCU, 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20.
